Two best friends have an incredibly inspirational story that forms around their love of swimming.
The teens live in Marietta Georgia, and met while practicing for the Paralympic Games, which is an international sporting event involving athletes with a range of disabilities.
They were “thrown in the same lane together” and became inseparable friends from the beginning.
McLain Hermes suffers from double retinal detachment, which has left her almost completely blind since the age of 8. Her friend Grace Bunke was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer that left her barely able to walk.
But the girls have not let their disabilities rule their lives. They both discovered a love of swimming on their own, and together they have taken it to the level of elite competition.
Watching their story unfold is not only inspirational, but it banishes self-pity!
